In their own words
Thanks, Doug! It's pretty much my favorite place to be! I'm super happy I'm there with such amazing people! 😀
Coach Doug, I just wanted to thank you and the rest of the coaches for welcoming me into your box and making me feel like family the past couple of weeks. It's seriously been awesome and I'm glad I kickstarted my re-entry in to crossfit with you guys. I've had the opportunity to work out at many boxes and I can honestly say you guys are the best... I'm definitely gonna miss you guys! You've got a good thing going, so keep it up, coach! I'll DEFINITELY be dropping in whenever I'm in the area. Thanks again!!
My experience at Sandbox Athletics this past summer was really one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Before I ever even walked into the gym, the owner, Doug Lane, was already working with me to find out more about my athletic and training ability. When I went in for my first class, it was like I had been part of the Sandbox family for a while. Everyone was extremely friendly and helped me out through all of the WOD’s. The constant encouragement and cheering from both the coaches and athletes is what got me through each and every WOD. No matter how INSANE the workouts were, everyone pushed each other in order to crush those workouts. The coaches at Sandbox Athletics are beyond excellent at what they do. They are extremely approachable and assisted in everything and anything I needed help in. I could honestly go on forever about the coaches and people here at Sandbox Athletics! Best of all, I am in the greatest shape I have ever been in. Through the support of my Sandbox family, I can now preform lifts and bar work that I would have never expected myself to accomplish. I have reached a new level of endurance and strength, and I owe this success to Sandbox Athletics!
My experience at Sandbox Athletics has been nothing short of amazing. When I started there nearly three years ago, I was collegiate athlete who needed a way to stay in shape during the summer break. Doug Lane and all the other coaches helped to keep me in tip top shape while offering me new challenges and pushing me to become a better athlete. But Sandbox Athletics isn’t just for athletes. When I broke my back and was diagnosed with Portal Vein Thrombosis, they worked with me more than any coaches I’ve ever had have. They sat down with me and learned about my condition and tailored WOD’s to push me without pushing the limits. The coaches at Sandbox Athletics are very knowledgeable and take the time to get to know every member and help them reach whatever personal goals they may have. They truly go above and beyond. From your very first class you feel so welcomed by the Sandbox Family and they will continue to support you through every WOD no matter how insane the workout may seem, and push you to levels of success you didn’t think were possible. Without everyone at Sandbox Athletics I would not be able to do workouts that I was told I would never be able to do again. I got my life back and I completely owe that to everyone at Sandbox Athletics!
I wanted to take a moment to write you a letter to say thank you... Throughout my short little career as a weightlifter I pretty much coach myself. My first exposure to weightlifting was a level 1 course coached by form TEAM USA Olympic Coach Harvey Newton. I started looking around for a coach shortly after and as arrogant as it sounds I didn't find anyone who I thought knew more about training in general than me (in my location at least). That said, at every national meet I've had help from one of Harvey's contacts. My first meet was USA Nationals with Harvey as Coach (6for6). Then the American Open in 2013 was TEAM USA Olympic Coach Roger Nielsen. The thing I’ve found in the weightlifting community is that there are a lot of high character people. There are people that are willing to go out of the way for you for no gain of their own. Doug, you did that for me at the National University Championships. Looking back at how things unveiled I couldn't have became the Overall National Champion it without you. The technical difficulties during the meet and random changes from other lifters did not faze me because you were there taking care of it. I know that in the grand scheme of things that a 341kg total is nothing to write home about but it’s improvement and was good enough to win on that day. I will continue to work and improve. Thank you for being willing to help someone you've never met. Thanks for executing as a coach. If there's anything I can do for you please let me know. If you ever venture to Nashville please let me know. Thanks for your help. I couldn’t have won the National Championship without you.
Thanks for offering such a great gym for learning and growing in all aspects of physical fitness and mental determination. I will truly miss Sandbox Athletics, its great members, and outstanding trainers. I doubt I will find anything as good as I did here.
Your gym is "freakin" awesome and so are you and the guys. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. It's been a long road of recovery back for me and I feel inadequate being with you guys, but thanks for allowing me a daily to try the gym. (due to injury) I will come back to do my deadlifts again as its the only free weight exercise I can yet do. Thanks again for making the time on the island even better. You have some really cool members bro. Keep up the awesome environment.
Coach Doug - I was going to post [this note on Facebook] but didn't want a pitty party I just wanted to say THANK YOU... personally. July 4th is tough for me Because I lost my mom in 1995 to cancer but, on THIS July 4th truly for the first time in 21 years I felt joy! Thank you to all of your Coaches, Brandon, Vinnie, Paul, Jarred, Jenny, and Leanne, for all of you for pushing me to try things I've never done or thought I could do and for giving me a second family. You have all changed my life and I truly can't put into words how important each of you are in my life. Happy 4th of July Sandbox Coaches
As someone who trains athletes, and competes against the most powerful golfers in the world, I need the absolute best training and information possible to stay at the top of my game. I receive my instruction from Sandbox Athletics. There are a lot of pretenders in the fitness industry, but Coach Lane and the team at Sandbox use time proven exercise science combined with real life experience to get the most out of their athletes.
